Abstract

Contemporary management literature harbors a critical blind spot, falsely assuming rigid quantitative performance metrics automatically optimize e-commerce operations despite severe algorithmic volatility. This study investigated the empirical disconnect between outcome-based governance and multidimensional firm success by surveying exactly one hundred one organizational professionals utilizing a robust cross-sectional econometric design. The regression analysis unequivocally rejects classical control orthodoxies, demonstrating that isolated results controls yield statistically insignificant direct effects on overall business performance. Because opaque platform algorithms systematically violate the controllability principle, enforcing static numerical targets forces massive psychological friction. Consequently, instead of fostering strategic agility, this toxic metric-fixation inherently drives severe goal displacement, directly compelling marketers to artificially game short-term indicators while rapidly cannibalizing long-term brand equity. Cultivating sustainable corporate survival globally necessitates permanently dismantling isolated measurement dashboards. E-commerce enterprises must urgently integrate robust cultural control mechanisms to effectively navigate highly stochastic digital market environments and ensure long-term strategic value creation.
